About A-Class Dance

Your one step away from greatness....

 

Our mission at A-Class Dance is to provide students of all levels with more than just dance classes, but a unique experience in which the student can grow both mentally and physically as a dancer and as a person. Our highly trained and certified instructors have a wealth of experience in teaching and performing various styles and disciplines.

 

Amy Whyatt Principal and Teacher:

Amy started dancing at the age of 3 and instantly fell in love with the ballroom dancing world.Amy went on  to compete and perform all over the world! Amy started in medallist competitions, winning and being a regular finalist in national and regional events. Amy went on to do open competitions where she met her dancing partner and husband Alex. Amy was just 19 years old when she undertook their first major competition together and made the top 24 after months of dancing together! Since then Amy has achieved: 

  • Top  48/24 in World Championship Rising Star Amateur Latin WDC

  • Regular Semi finalist in Stars of the Future Open to the World Championship

  • 5th place National Professional Show Dance Championship 

  • 2nd place English Masters Championship X2

  • Yorkshire open Champion 

  • Top 48 in the German Open International Championship

  • Top 13 UK Closed

  • Top 48 World Professional Latin

  • UK Closed Professional Latin Finalist

  • British Closed Professional Latin Finalist

Amongst all these accolades Amy has also travelled the world on cruise ships performing as guest

entertainers dancing with her husband Alex!

Alexander Whyatt Principal and Teacher:

Alex started dancing at 2 years old. Inspired by his sister who danced at national championship level, Alex swung his little legs and declared, ‘I want to win big trophies like my sister!’ Alex went on to do just that, winning every age group he competed in on the UKA circuit. From there, Alex went on to open competitions where he achieved:

  • World Junior 10 Dance and Latin semi finalist 

  • Regular Regional champion

  • Top  48/24 in World Championship Rising Star Amateur Latin WDC

  • Regular Semi finalist in Stars of the Future Open to the World Championship

  • 5th place National Professional Show Dance Championship 

  • 2nd place English Masters Championship X2

  • Yorkshire open Champion 

  • Top 48 in the German Open International Championship

  • Top 13 UK Closed

  • Top 48 World Professional Latin

  • UK Closed Professional Latin Finalist

  • British Closed Latin Finalist

 

Both Alex and Amy are qualified with the U.K.A., and are members of the BDC, DPA, IDTA and Supadance National League.

Married in 2019, Alex and Amy continue to compete at national and international competitions around the country. As principals of A-Class, they are delighted to be inspiring the next generation of dancers and sharing their passion for dance, health and wellbeing with each and every one of their students.
